The basic rules of roulette

Roulette is a betting game that uses a spinning wheel and a ball. The wheel consists of 37 or 38 sectors, depending on the type of roulette (European or American). Each sector corresponds to a specific number and colour (red, black or green).

1. Roulette types:

• European roulette: There are 37 sectors on the wheel, from 0 to 36. This version is considered more favourable for players as it has only one sector with a zero.
• American Roulette: Includes 38 sectors, an additional sector with two zeros (00) is added, which increases the casino's advantage.

2. How to play: Players place bets on a table that is divided into different zones such as numbers, even/odd, red/black, and others. Once the bets are placed, the croupier starts the wheel and the ball starts spinning clockwise until it stops in one of the sectors. The winner is determined depending on which sector the ball falls on.

How does the roulette wheel work?

1. The roulette wheel spins in one direction and the ball in the other. The sectors on the wheel are numbered from 0 to 36 (in European roulette) or 00 to 36 (in American roulette). Each sector is black or red in colour, except for the zero sector, which is always green.

2. The ball, which rolls along the inner ring of the wheel, gradually slows down and eventually stops in one of the sectors. This sector determines which number or group of numbers the players bet on.
